Commerce
Cart and promotion management, with a rendering pipeline that turns a basket into an order.
Overview
A basket is the first thing a customer trusts you with. Every number in it — the discount, the shipping line, the tax, the total — is a small promise about what happens next.
The Commerce app keeps those promises intact on the way to the order. The same pricing pass that renders the cart produces the order behind it, so the figure the shopper agreed to is the figure your operation works from. When a campaign applies, it is recorded against the lines it touched, which is what makes a fair refund possible months later when someone sends half the order back.
It also handles the part of checkout that usually goes quiet: the moments when a payment provider, a shipping provider or a slow network changes the basket without the shopper doing anything. The cart stays current, and the order that lands is the one everybody agreed to.
What it does
-
Cart APIs for storefronts
Create and manage carts, add and remove items, set addresses and custom fields, and apply coupons over public HTTP endpoints.
-
Computed totals on every change
Each cart mutation returns a rendered cart with prices, discounts, shipping and tax already calculated, so the storefront never derives totals itself.
-
Promotion engine
Promotions are configured in the portal, applied during order creation, and recorded against the lines they affected so later returns can be settled correctly.
-
Live cart updates
Carts stream changes back to the storefront, including changes triggered by payment or shipping apps rather than the shopper.
-
Cart profiles per channel
Currency, default country and permitted destination countries are configured per storefront channel.
Apps that usually run together.
Most operations install more than one. These are the apps this one is most often paired with, because they share the same order.
